We’re told gifting is about balloons, big bows and milestone moments. But life isn’t just milestones. It’s the in-betweens, the messy middles, the 3am feeds, the diagnoses, the heartbreak, the overwhelm. The moments when being seen matters most.
That’s why this platform, and this Journal, exists. It’s a re-evaluation of gifting, and of the times we choose to show up. Not just the birthdays and anniversaries, but the chapters that rarely get a card - when support, not stuff, makes all the difference.
I’ve spoken with hundreds of women across the UK (and beyond) and what I’ve heard again and again is this: the right gift isn’t the biggest or the fanciest, it’s the one that lifts a weight, meets a need, or simply says, I see you.
This Journal is where I feed those insights back to you. It’s part research log, part love letter, part how-to for showing up better.

Working so closely with Kate to build her vision for We Are The Helpful, we talked more intimately about her experience of losing her mum than we might have otherwise. Her words were as ever poignant, honest, and reflective, but this simple, disarming phrase struck me as so universally relatable.
