Revealing your expericences and what helped: More real, less fake.
Dook is an award-winning artisanal company based in Edinburgh, Scotland, making salt soap in small batches using organic ingredients, essential oils and natural colours. Each batch is mixed and poured by hand resulting in distinctive, high-quality hand and body soap.
We've curated Dook because the products are truly special; they're a brand which couples a luxury beauty product with a sustainable lifestyle, offering a stunning gifting option for the Self & Sisterhood.
My personal favourite is the Lavender Mandarin, Coriander & Cedar Bath Salts - they look beautiful in the bathroom and are an absolute luxury at the end of the day. It's a beautifully simple gift to send to a loved one needing that little reminder to take a moment for herself, or for yourself (this is what I did!).
I've asked Helen, Founder of Dook a few questions - enjoy!
Your name and role with Dook:
Helen Atherton, Founder, Dook
Why did you start Dook?
After years of making soap as a hobby, I found joy in the act of making beautiful things that smell great and work really really well. Taking these things and creating a brand and business around them has been hugely rewarding, I love the diversity of roles that being a small business owner demands. I'm constantly learning and evolving - it's very satisfying!

Each batch is mixed and poured by hand resulting in distinctive, high-quality hand and body soap. These salt soaps are a fantastic product: the salt adds a beautiful colour and texture, is rich in skin-loving minerals and creates a firm, long-lasting bar. Put simply, these are brilliant soaps and we are extremely proud of them.
What has been the most impactful and helpful gift you've received from a loved one and why?
The gift of time! When my children were little and my parents watched my kids. My partner and I had a couple of pretty wonderful weekends away.
Tell us 3 - 4 words that best describe your Inner Circle (you know, the ones who look after you while you're busy looking after everyone else):
I feel like those I look after (my children and partner) look after me in their own ways too... It's pretty reciprocal most of the time!
